2. Overview

Wispa is a mobile app that helps caregivers support children with homework. Protecting your data is especially important to us, as our target audience includes families with children.

Key principles (mobile app)

  • Wispa requires no user account and no registration.
  • No personal data is permanently stored.
  • The mobile app includes no tracking, no analytics, and no advertising.
  • Photographed homework is not stored – it is transmitted only for the duration of processing and then discarded.

Section 5 below applies only to visits to wispaapp.de in a browser – not to the app.

3. Data processing in the app

3.1 Photographing homework

When you photograph homework, the image is transmitted to our server to analyze the task and provide coaching prompts. The image is:

  • Sent to our server (hosted on Railway, USA)
  • Forwarded to the Anthropic API (Claude) for AI-powered analysis
  • Not permanently stored – neither on our server nor by Anthropic

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contractual performance – provision of the service).

3.2 Feedback and responses

When you provide feedback (e.g., "correct", "wrong", or a brief summary of the child's answer), this information is used only within the current session to generate appropriate follow-up prompts. It is not permanently stored.

3.3 Translation feature

The optional translation feature sends generated text to the Anthropic API for translation. No additional personal data is processed.

4. Third-party services

4.1 Anthropic (Claude API)

We use the Claude API by Anthropic, Inc. (USA) for AI-powered analysis of homework photos and generation of coaching prompts.

Anthropic processes the transmitted data according to their privacy policy. For API usage, inputs are not used to train their models according to Anthropic.

4.2 Railway (server hosting)

Our backend server is hosted on Railway (USA). No personal data is permanently stored there. Data processing is limited to forwarding requests.

4.3 Apple App Store

The app is downloaded via the Apple App Store. The data processing involved is subject to Apple Inc.'s privacy policy.

5. Website (wispaapp.de only – not the app)

5.1 Hosting

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA). When you visit, technically necessary connection data (e.g. IP address, timestamp, requested page) is temporarily processed in server logs. Vercel acts as a processor for this hosting-related processing.

5.2 Vercel Web Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics on this website. It helps us understand overall site usage (e.g. page views and technical performance metrics). The purpose is to operate and improve the website – not personalised advertising.

Important: Vercel Web Analytics is used on the website only, not inside the Wispa app. The app still has no analytics and no tracking.

Vercel describes Web Analytics as a privacy-oriented product (e.g. no conventional advertising tracking cookies). For details on how Vercel processes data, see: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in analysing use of our online offering and in the security and stability of the website). Where personal data is processed, it is limited to what is appropriate for that purpose and respects your rights.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)

7. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority regarding the processing of your personal data.

8. Changes

We reserve the right to update this privacy policy to reflect changes in legal requirements or changes to the service. The current version is always available on this page.
